About Me
I am a licensed clinical social worker, licensed marriage and family therapist and certified sexuality therapist with over thirty-five years of experience, specializing in areas such as male and female sexual health, ob/gyn related issues, e.g. infertility, pregnancy/newborn loss, PMS, PMDD, and menopause. In addition, I work with LGBTQ+ clients, adult survivors of childhood and adult sexual abuse and cancer patients including previvors, survivors, and caregivers. Interwoven throughout are emotional factors such as grief, depression, anxiety and PTSD.
I see LGBTQ+ individuals and couples, as well as heterosexual clients, and work with blended families.
I previously led an infertility couples' support group, a women’s therapy group, and a mixed gender therapy group. I am not currently working with groups.
First and foremost, since safety is of the utmost importance, it is essential that an accepting, non-judgmental environment be established and maintained for this work to take place. I've worked with people in the LGBTQ+ community around issues such as coming out, complexities with families and self-acceptance. For any and all sexual orientations/identities, discovery/awareness of sexual preferences, possible fluidity, kink, BDSM, being non-binary, etc., are just some of the outcomes of questioning, finding answers and ultimately accepting one's sexual self. As we increasingly understand the vast arena of sexual desires and preferences, we must think in increasingly broad terms. Put less formally, it's important to know and be comfortable with "how we roll". One size does not fit all!

Why a book?
In over 30 years of counseling people, I’ve learned a great deal about what works and what doesn’t. My goal is to share that knowledge with my readers. Loving Courageously is a broad overview of many of the components of emotional well-being, relationships, and how to create a life of deep satisfaction.
The book addresses such topics as:
- the importance and necessity of healthy emotional self-care and love of oneself
-re-writing the script we’ve been handed
-boundaries
-effective communication and collaborative problem solving
-understanding gender differences
-creating emotional and sexual intimacy in a committed partnership
-learning how to be a “good enough” parent and good enough person
My hope is to provide you with some new and different ways of thinking, feeling and being which will enhance your happiness and life quality.
